The symbol of two clasped hands is an ancient symbol of fidelity, friendship and union. Rings with this motif are called “fede” rings, coming from the Italian word for faith or trust. As early as the 16th century and spanning to the Victorian Era, these rings were often used as betrothal or wedding rings.

The back is solid, but this ring is fairly lightweight due to its hollow interior.
